These lists were created because the founder of the project wanted something with a little more control over what is being blocked. Many lists out there are all or nothing. BlockList Project?
For the past few years I've just used the standard StevenBlack one that is enabled by default when you setup PiHole, and it covers the large majority of ads. The only ads I still see are on YouTube and Twitch, and as far as I know those can't be blocked with a DNS sinkhole since the ads are served from the same domain as the content. The lists on that site seem like they let you block a bunch of other stuff, not necessarily ads, but domains related to gambling, crypto, TikTok etc. That's a bit different.

Any DNS to block reddit ads?
There are lots of great sources for block lists. I used some site a long time ago that helped you build a custom list. I cant find the link but still lots of good sources like : https://github.com/blocklistproject/Lists

Yes, unfortunately i think this also happened other times with Firehol L3 (you can see https://github.com/firehol/blocklist-ipsets/issues/188) but thanks for the lists advice.

Did anyone notice an abnormal increase in banned clients? These are my daily fail2ban ban count
I believe you are running SSH over default port 22 - feel free to change that. You can also use iplists from FireHOL to block any connection from blacklisted (on way or another) IPs - https://iplists.firehol.org/
