What crates are considered as de-facto standard?
No, it's hand curated (see https://github.com/nicoburns/blessed-rs for source). There is a separate project https://lib.rs that takes a more automated approach (you can browse the most downloaded crates by count).

This sounds like the sort of thing I created https://blessed.rs to host (source: https://github.com/nicoburns/blessed-rs). I never really launched it, so it's a bit incomplete atm. But the idea is that it's a guide to all the stuff that can't be in the official docs (because that would be favouritism), but that every rust developer ought to know.

I want to improve project management practices for the Rust Lang team!
I've been quietly working on something like this over at https://blessed.rs (source: https://github.com/nicoburns/blessed-rs) At the moment it's just a curated list of crates (and still a fairly short one at that), but the vision is very much to be a go-to knowledge base for Rust, a community managed counterpart to the official website. I've been putting off an announcement until it's more ready, but perhaps it's better to get it out there.

Immediately off the top of your head what is the best Rust CLI library.
It'll panic if the path contains non-UTF8-able bytes.

fncmd: Command line interface as a function.
Yes clap needs a lot of boilerplate that small programs don't always need, but if you're going to simplify it, I don't think having a bunch of arguments given to the main function is better than having an option struct as in argh. Such an option struct can be given to other functions from the main, can have dedicated consistency check or completion methods, etc.

Newbie frustration: can we KISS more?
Typically programs are configured through a config object. People like to use things like clap, structopt, or argh for passing in arguments through the CLI https://github.com/google/argh. You can also use the env! macro for embedding values in at compile time, or by going through the std::env::var infrastructure for runtime env vars.

Ahh. The secondary reason I discounted Argh as "unsuitable for purpose" after "Doesn't support using OsString under the hood".
