Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

What are custom songs, exactly?
There are tools out there that do a half decent job of converting songs automatically. I use https://beatsage.com for example. This creates a basic map and quality varies wildly, usually you'd want to spice it up and do some fine tuning with a map editor like https://beatmapper.app

Beatsage with bmbf 1.16.4 update?
After you download your songs from Beatsage, upload them into beatmapper. (Click on "import existing map").

React Renderer for Three.js
I've built "vanilla" Three.js projects, and worked with react-three-fiber. It is incredibly useful.
Having a new set of "primitives" that map to three.js objects and being able to render them in a React application makes so many things easier. It's also just way less code to write compared to standard three.js.
RE: animation performance, I haven't had any issues with it. I presume either they're doing a bunch of optimizations, or the concerns are greatly exaggerated. You can check out an app I built using it if you want some proof: https://beatmapper.app/

I made a map for Dream in Drive (the in-game anime OP song) in Beat Saber!
I use a web-based map-making tool called Beatmapper, and there's some great tips and tutorials on the Beat Saber Modding Group wiki!

Can you create custom maps on quest 2 without connecting to a PC?
You can try BeatMapper, but it might not turn out well for you w/o a pc.

React Renderer for Three.js
this is the test you are referring to: https://github.com/drcmda/scheduler-test it tested against severe stress. the cubes had artifical runtime delay, which would clog the main thread. the github repo now contains a vanilla test that you can run, it will block your cpu for 1-2 seconds. this is repeated every 2 seconds. a vanilla app trying to get through this will consequently go to its knees, but react can schedule it away.
this btw, as absurd as it may seem to you, is a react feature. the upcoming react 18 release is pretty much based on it.

React Fiber - Yay or nay?
this is complete bs though, he merely removed the stress from the stress-test, the very thing it's testing against. the updated test is here: https://github.com/drcmda/scheduler-test it includes the stress test (500 instances of text geometry), re-created every 2 sec. simply creating them takes 1-2 seconds. svelte, like everything else is going to choke on this. react on the other hand can balance load.
