The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Leaving Clojure - Feedback for those that care
While Leiningen is a reasonable tool, I'd rather see everyone using tools.deps in the long run. It allows us to build things on top of it with less baggage. For example, we're using a Babashka port of tools.deps to make it easy to install scripts with bbin. I don't think it would have been realistic for me to implement something like bbin on top of Leiningen.

Try out Clojure libraries via rebel-readline
Does installing any of the other libs from https://github.com/babashka/bbin#usage work?

Compiling simple .clj files
Perhaps babashka is also worth looking into. There is a tool for it called bbin which lets you share single scripts so other people can install them on their system. I have a couple of scripts like that here. Disclosure: I'm the author of babashka.

Does anyone use deps-new?
I've been using deps-new to scaffold new Clojure projects. I wrote a small emacs package that lets you quickly create a project using the built-in templates because I keep forgetting the syntax of deps-new.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing bbin and deps-new you can also consider the following projects:
MoccaFaux - Adapt power management to changes in the environment.
neil - A CLI to add common aliases and features to deps.edn-based projects
kaocha - Full featured next gen Clojure test runner
Tatin - Tatin is a package manager for Dyalog APL
