You can use that script that change wallpaper using the builtin Gnome Shell solution (genrate an xml based on time).

I'm building a really simple app for periodic wallpaper change on Gnome Shell, I'm yet to implement the Run on login feature, and some way to install it. I'm just a beginner so I would be glad to receive suggestions and feedback, run main.py to open the UI
