We recently open sourced Tier http://github.com/tierrun/tier which combines metering, feature flags and a nice client side SDK to simplify things.

I don't see why you want to avoid grandparenting. If the pricing model [2] is versioned and immutable, then keeping customers on their existing Customer Schedule [3] and then using specific migrations to move customers to new schedules makes sense and is easier than either not doing anything, or trying to track customer specific discounts and the accounting related to that.

Unleash (Feature Flags)

This pretty much looks like Unleash.

So my first instinct is to setup some sorta feature-flag thing within a CMS so managers can flip the boolean, I'm exploring getunleash.io and GrowthBook.io and we already use Contentful.com within the app but they're saying they "really don't think we need to use any third party thing for a killswitch"...

Unleash is also open source (Apache 2.0 License). Repo is at https://github.com/Unleash/unleash . Would be interested in knowing the feature differences between the two as they are both Node / Typescript projects

Awesome news, Unleash - free and open-source feature flag solution, just got a Flutter SDK, with help from the Flutter community!

We are an Open Source Feature Flagging solution called Unleash, and we are looking to get some feedback from the community on a decision we are trying to make. We are considering offering our developers the option to either write technical content through a Community Content Program for us for a $200 fee, or to donate that amount to charity.
