Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

What is package.el's Algorithm for 'package-autoremove'?
By the way, I personally use auto-package-autoupdate to autoremove old package when updating old packages. It has worked great for me. It uses package.el under the hood, so it shouldn't be a problem to package.el.

Strange, diff-hl works extremely well and looks nice (and also works with other vcs) - some themes have not set appropriate faces but that is very easy to fix. diff-hl
