is it possible to use python to communicate to a ledger device?
Yes, you can see how it's done with https://github.com/ledgerhq/blue-loader-python or https://github.com/ledgerhq/ledgerctl for the low level communication - then you'll need to implement the application protocol on top of it

What are the current existing hardware attacks?
I recently purchased a couple of Ledgers, 2x Nano X on Amazon, and 1x directly from Ledger. I've heard even though if you order directly from the Ledger store on Amazon, there is still the possibility of it being tampered with since it comes from a pool of "Ledgers". I've disassembled the Nano X and verified that there are no additional PCB or components on the existing PCB but with my paranoid self, that doesn't satisfy my itch. And of course, I've checked if the device is genuine by using Ledger Live and it shows the checkmark. As well as, using the genuine script from Ledger's Github (https://github.com/LedgerHQ/blue-loader-python/blob/master/ledgerblue/checkGenuine.py).

Nano X for developers
https://github.com/LedgerHQ/blue-loader-python This repo says in big letters that it works on the Nano X. it clearly doesn't. So yes, i am right to call your tools rubbish when they do not work as advertised and when multiple issues are being raised around how they do not work as advertised which continue to go unanswered.

"Allow Unsafe Manager" - when running ledgerblue.checkGenuine
which runs the script: https://github.com/LedgerHQ/blue-loader-python/blob/master/ledgerblue/checkGenuine.py
