Issues with Audio Interface on Fresh Fedora
I went through a bit of a rabbits hole and installed what appeared to be a kernel driver and associated GUI controller documented here. I made sure to use the correct PID found in lsusb. (Which the Clarett shows up in).

How to interpret “system requirements” when looking at new gear
For example, Focusrite has this weird "no but maybe" FAQ page on their website. But in fact, the fact that it is class compliant means it should just work on any OS (even Windows) without their specific drivers. And even better, the settings in their installable Windows/MacOS-only Control Software are all accessible trough alsa in the kernel on any recent Linux distro out of the box, and people even made extra nice frontends for it!

Focusrite scarlett 2i2 does not detect microphone (arch linux)
Hi, I'm using alsa-scarlett-gui on arch linux with pipewire and wireplumber, I have a 3.5mm jack microphone connected to it with a 6.35 adapter but it does not detect any sound from it, no light from my 2i2 indicating sound, nothing from my audio mixer on the input devices tab. How might I troubleshoot this?
- Is Ubuntu Studio just garbage? At my wits' end.

- Just got the focusrite 18i8 3rd gen and it is a massive disappointment.

Bitwig on Arch
I don't know about any of the others, but the Scarlett 8i8 has an internal mixer with 8 separate inputs. If it's anything like my 18i8, by default they're all either set to nothing at all, the first PCM output channel, or Analog 1 (the first input). If you want to use the other inputs, you'll need to assign them in the routing matrix. You can either do that in alsamixer (screenshot from my 1st gen. 18i8, where I just set a couple duplicate inputs for the first channel as a hack to boost the microphone gain a bit) or in scarlett-mixer if your device supports it. This is exactly the same as on Windows, with the main difference being that Focusrite's Windows drivers specifically map each physical input to the corresponding mixer input by default, while their class compliant mode doesn't do that for some reason.

XLR microphone extremely quiet in Ubuntu - USB Audio interface
I've installed and configured https://github.com/x42/scarlett-mixer but it's really just a GUI around the alsa configuration. I will admit that the routing matrix is quite confusing, though.
