Great point, it’s exactly why I added a scratchpad feature to https://github.com/shortcuts/no-neck-pain.nvim to leverage the empty side buffers as scratch pads (https://github.com/shortcuts/no-neck-pain.nvim/wiki/Showcase#side-buffer-as-scratch-pad)

Speaking of your empty left terminal, [I just added this earlier today](https://github.com/shortcuts/no-neck-pain.nvim/pull/69) which only adds the side buffers when there's enough space, so if you have the plugin enabled, you don't have to worry about opening an empty window, the plugin thinks about it for you :)
