Use a framework or build from scratch?
I am working on a freelance project where the client wants to build a messaging/social application similar to WhatsApp. I am the only developer working, so I will be building it all, singlehandedly. In the application, for the chat module, should I implement a third-party framework like the Chat SDK (https://github.com/chat-sdk/chat-sdk-ios) or write the code for the view and the functionality entirely from scratch?
What are some alternatives?
MIDaemonTweak - Allows the installation of iPad-only apps on the iPhone (requires that you sync or airdrop the applications from your computer with a tool like iMazing, Apple Configurator, etc)
MessageKit - A community-driven replacement for JSQMessagesViewController
STPopup - STPopup provides STPopupController, which works just like UINavigationController in popup style, for both iPhone and iPad. It's written in Objective-C and compatible with Swift.
Chatto - A lightweight framework to build chat applications, made in Swift
ChatSecure-iOS - ChatSecure is a free and open source encrypted chat client for iOS that supports OTR and OMEMO encryption over XMPP.
JSQMessagesViewController
ToxAndroidRefImpl - Tox Reference implementation for Android
NMessenger
qTox_enhanced - qTox is a chat, voice, video, and file transfer IM client using the encrypted peer-to-peer Tox protocol.
Atlas
XMPPFramework - An XMPP Framework in Objective-C for Mac and iOS
SwiftyMessenger - Swift toolkit for passing messages between iOS apps and extensions.
