ZealOS VS Discover

It has already evolved significantly since Terry's passing

The original is forever frozen in time as a memorial to Terry’s genius, but there is an (at least somewhat) actively maintained fork, which has added features of which Terry himself would not have approved - https://github.com/Zeal-Operating-System/ZealOS is the main one, which was last updated only a couple of months ago; Minix’s last commit appears to have been in 2018 - https://github.com/Stichting-MINIX-Research-Foundation/minix

But maybe that’s the answer for MINIX too - maybe one of the people who have authored all those unreviewed PRs might start a community-based fork. If all the activity moves to the fork, there is a chance the originators might officially bless it

Don't be ridiculous; hasn't been updated for years. Everyone has moved on to ZealOS.

ZealOS is looking pretty nice.

Discord overlay doesn't exist in linux. I'm using Discover as a workaround.

If you know python you could maybe start by looking at how discover handles everything by reading its source code

There are applications like Discover for Discord. It is capable to render above everything else, even fullscreen games without taking any resources.

1) If you use Discord, install it and the Discover overlay. With the Deck's excellent output cancelling, you can comfortably chat while you play.

Discover Overlay: This lets you have an overlay for Discord, since Discord on Linux still has no overlay support of its own. It's a little janky, but being able to see who's talking and read what the people in text chat are saying is just an important part of being social online. I love being able to both play video games and hang out with friends simultaneously, so this is just about mandatory for me.
