Microsoft finds Linux desktop flaw that gives root to untrusted users
Anyway. This is kind of a story but kind of not at the same time. Exploits are found all the time that cause these kinds of issues. Skim this list for 'Elevation of Privilege' exploits. If somebody has physical access to your computer and really wants to hack it. Then chances are they can. Windows, MacOS, or Linux. It doesn't matter. It's as good as theirs. The issues that really matter are the ones with the access column listed as 'remote'. That means somebody not at your computer can do something across the network to access your computer.

Authentik or Keycloak
If so that seems like very flawed thinking. If you are using Windows, Firefox, Chrome, Mac, Ubuntu, Github, or many many other pieces of software, they've all had CVE's some extremely severe in the past.
