Frustration about either bugs or my own dumbness
So I just received my watchy today and wanted to upload a new watchface. When trying the arduino-method stated in the official docs I run into this error https://github.com/sqfmi/Watchy/issues/166 .

Watchy: The Hackable $50 Smartwatch
Wow, this article doesn't do it justice.
Watchy is an open source hardware device that uses an e-ink display and has an ESP32 module builtin [0].
SQFMI, the creator of watchy, has a twitter account [1] which has some very nice screenshots [2] [3]. Even the CrowdSupply website has better pics of the device [4].
This is one of the few watches I've been sorely tempted to buy.

E-Ink Watch based on the ESP32
It's on sale on Tindie. But I recommend to look at their github repo. Not many updates and one issue says that example code is nothing you would consider as smart watch. https://github.com/sqfmi/Watchy/releases

15 years Modicon for my day job. Arduino for my escape rooms. Building a new room and decided to combine them and add open source. So excited! Anyone else use this?
ModbusTCP and MQTT are supported via ethernet. There are a handful of different libraries for each, but I've personally used those.

What are some alternatives?
EthernetENC - Ethernet library for ENC28J60. This is a modern version of the UIPEthernet library. EthernetENC library is compatible with all Arduino architectures with Arduino SPI library with transactions support. Only include EthernetENC.h instead of Ethernet.h
openevse_esp32_firmware - OpenEVSE V4 WiFi gateway using ESP32
DT78-App-Android - Alternative app for the DT78 Smartwatch. Also works with DT92 & DT66. May work with watches that use the WearFit 2.0 app.
pubsubclient - A client library for the Arduino Ethernet Shield that provides support for MQTT.
TFT_eSPI - Arduino and PlatformIO IDE compatible TFT library optimised for the Raspberry Pi Pico (RP2040), STM32, ESP8266 and ESP32 that supports different driver chips
Sonoff-Tasmota - Alternative firmware for ESP8266 with easy configuration using webUI, OTA updates, automation using timers or rules, expandability and entirely local control over MQTT, HTTP, Serial or KNX. Full documentation at [Moved to: https://github.com/arendst/Tasmota]
watchy-cases - Collection of Watchy Case/Body designs
pyrinas-zephyr - Open companion cloud client to Pyrinas Server for the nRF9160 Feather and Zephyr
TTGO_TWatch_Library
wasm3 - 🚀 A fast WebAssembly interpreter and the most universal WASM runtime
Arduino-HomeKit-ESP8266 - Native Apple HomeKit accessory implementation for the ESP8266 Arduino core.
