Completed Script to change between audio devices
I hate having to go through the Windows settings to change audio devices, so I made a little GUI to make it easy. Check it out if you want! You should be able to throw it in a .ps1 and run. It will generate buttons in a form for each playback and recording device plugged in. Clicking the button changes to that device.

Completed Script to change between audio devices
I'll second AHK as a great way to do this with hotkeys. You can even skip NirCmd (great program btw) if you use the VA.ahk library for audio device settings. Makes it as simple as calling VA_SetDefaultEndpoint("Headphones",0).
What are some alternatives?
