Automation
If neither of these are exactly what you're looking for and you're familiar with C#/.NET, there's Soulseek.NET (used by both slsk-batchdl and slskd) that will enable you to do your own thing. It includes a CLI example.

can you sync up seeker and soulseek?
Yeah, you kind of can. But I don't think you're going to like the answer. There's a Soulseek client library that allows easy writing of code to pass data from Soulseek: https://github.com/jpdillingham/Soulseek.NET

Is there a non-js command line client?
There's Soulseek.NET, which includes a CLI example.

Python automation
Have a look at Soulseek.NET – Soulseek is closed-source so this is a reverse-engineered network library. You could create a python wrapper with it.

Soulseek on headless Linux
I also tried https://github.com/slskd/slskd which is a visual interface wrapping around this protocol implementation: https://github.com/jpdillingham/Soulseek.NET. Both are a fabulous effort but they're currently in development.

Is there still no headless SoulSeek client?
The only active project that could be used without a desktop environment is this one : https://github.com/jpdillingham/Soulseek.NET

Specifically, this. I managed to get it installed and I can access the GUI but I can't see to get it to use my shared folders and search doesn't seem to return any results.
