Recovering from saved sqlite database
I accidentally my whole phone. I do have a Titanium Backup of Simple SMS Messenger, from which I can extract the conversations.db. However, when I launch the app, it replaces the conversations. I do not have an export. I would like a method of merging / importing the old conversations from the database. I'm techy and can write SQL, Python, etc. I've had a quick look at the exporter to see if I can replicate the JSON format of the exported conversations. But I thought I might ask in case anyone here has already solved this or has better advice. Cheers!

Finally ditched almost all proprietary apps and hosted my own home server for media streaming and files/photo sharing. (Still using WhatsApp, Classroom and some food ordering apps though)

[Summary] Looking for a FOSS SMS Android app with RCS support r/fdroid
There is an open-source implementation of an RCS stack that these apps (QKSMS and Simple SMS) might be able to use.

Signal Replacement
I wasn't impressed with Simple SMS, the devs are a bit slow to fix issues such as the one i reported.

Removing SMS support from Signal Android (soon)
I take about sms app...QKSMS (https://github.com/moezbhatti/qksms) seems dead...But there is an active fork, PartisanSMS (https://github.com/wrwrabbit/Partisan-SMS), cons : it's not on f-droid...Simple SMS (https://github.com/SimpleMobileTools/Simple-SMS-Messenger/) not a huge fan of Simple apps... but on f-droid.Sad about all of this... It was a pro to migrate some people...

Which version of Signal introduced SMS nags?
The fork by johanw666 is most likely not going to keep SMS support, see here and here.

Re-Adding SMS Support to Signal
there is already Singal fork with no APK expire whrere you can keep using SMS as long as you want

- SMS and MMS features leaving
- Are there any end-to-end encrypted messaging apps that also support SMS?
-
Signal Introduces Story Time
Just use Johann's fork with SMS support and no APK expiration and don't update it. This would either buy you some months before proper alternative will be introduced or at best work infinitely.

- Signal discontinuing SMS support.
-
Google Messages and RCS with microG
Just use Signal fork with SMS feature and don't update it, this fork should keep working even if Signal tries to force you to update.
-
If I disables updates, the old android APK will still have SMS integration, correct?
I've been looking into this fork and hopefully the dev ends up keeping SMS : https://github.com/johanw666/Signal-Android
