Seraphis is a next-gen transaction protocol abstraction, which means it defines various high-level rules for a concrete transaction protocol. RingCT can be thought of as the current tx protocol abstraction of Monero, even though the RingCT paper specified concrete proving structures directly without abstraction.

"No Wallet Left Behind" - Make Sure Our Wallets Survive the Fork to Monero "NG"
Work is well under way to implement something you could call a "second-generation protocol" for Monero called Seraphis. You can find details on the author @UkoeHB 's GitHub here. In parallel @tevador designs a new addressing and wallet tiers scheme to be used with Seraphis called Jamtis that is currently documented and discussed here.

Anyway. The concern raised here may be rendered nearly moot by the upcoming Seraphis/JAMTIS upgrade. As I understand it, this upgrade will significantly speed up remote wallet scanning time, while also making remote wallets much more secure.

Feather Wallet 2.0.0 released
The proof-of-concept 14-word monero-seed library that Feather used before 2.0.0 is now obsolete. It is succeeded by Polyseed. Generating 14-word seeds is no longer supported, all new wallets use Polyseed. Both schemes are similar in functionality. Like monero-seed, Polyseed has an embedded wallet creation date. Erasures are currently not supported. We will continue to support restoring 14-word seeds indefinitely. It is not possible to convert a 14-word seed into a Polyseed. To switch to Polyseed you must create a new wallet and send over your funds. A Polyseed can be converted into an equivalent 25 word seed + restore height in the Seed dialog, so the wallet can be restored in other Monero wallets.
