Optical Drive Emulator (ODE) Guide
Save Game Copier supports MODE and Satiator.

Do any ODEs have save states?
You can transfer save games (note: NOT emulator save states) generated by a compatible emulator to Saturn using some homebrew programs, like slinga's https://github.com/slinga-homebrew/Save-Game-Copier SGC.

Getting into the Sega Saturn and, looking for some suggestions
This is correct ! All you need is this and you can backup saves to the satiator SD card https://github.com/slinga-homebrew/Save-Game-Copier
- If I get a Saturn, should I be worried about recapping it?
- What Cart should I get for my Saturn?

Burned CDs
No, you still save to a save cart. Games don't know how to save to anything else as far as I am aware. Once there, however, you can back them up onto SD card with the Fenrir. You have this as an option too: https://github.com/slinga-homebrew/Save-Game-Copier

Are All-in-One PSK carts safe to use?
The MODE allows you to backup saves to the SD card. Check out this link to Save Game Copier. This tool allows you to backup and restore individual saves. You might find that you don't even need a Memory Card depending on your usage. If so an official RAM card or a blanked out AR Plus card (if you don't want cheats) may be all you need.

Satiator or Fenrir
So far I've run across these three (I had already mentioned Rings): https://github.com/slinga-homebrew/Save-Game-Copier

Corrupted save files (wtf)
MODE will do the job, but if your budget is limited you may want to use Slinga's Save Game Extractor which uses Saturn audio and PC software to transfer save data : https://github.com/slinga-homebrew/Save-Game-Extractor
What are some alternatives?
satiator-rings - Satiator menu replacement with image support written using jo-engine. Currently loads .iso and .cue / .bin format (.wav should work but not tested). Some games may not work due to vdp1 not being cleared. Region free is different to the official menu as it is done by actually patching the files on your SD card. Therefore there is a confirmation screen before launching which can be turned off in options.
