Recommendations for equivalent of Excel's Goal Seek function
Roots.jl is probably the closest thing to what you want, for simple scalar-to-scalar functions.
- Looking for a simple equation of state to calculate the specific volume/density of gas/liquid methanol. I've found plenty of papers using the Helmholtz equation of state but nothing simpler. Are there any around?

Of course, if you are calling BLAS/LAPACK, you are constrained to use floats, but the recommendation on DoubleFloats is clear: if you know you algorithms, use the increased precision only in the parts that matter
