Introducing OpenMic - A Python Karaoke App
For the past month or so I've been working on making an open source karaoke app in Python. The problem I ran into while looking for other Karaoke apps was that most require purchasing the music files when all I really wanted was a wrapper for searching karaoke videos on youtube. The closest project I could find was pikaraoke, but it felt a little too clunky and I wanted something simple enough that I could run it off my steam deck. So, I made OpenMic Karaoke.

Cheapest thin client or SBC w/ 4k output?
I'm thinking of putting together something that can run both PiKaraoke and maybe some emulators to a 4k TV. The emulators aren't going to be for 4k content, but I'd to be able to use 4k youtube videos for the karaoke, if available. Any device recommendations?

Looking to set up a karaoke system on my tv but donβt know where to start. Any suggestions?
I've never done the app route but I tried PiKaraoke in 2020 and showed it friends. They loved it. https://github.com/vicwomg/pikaraoke

What software to use for chromebook?
There's a pretty cool project called PiKaraoke that you might want to consider as an alternative. It uses YouTube as the source but avoids the ads by downloading the videos directly. It also has a web interface where you can change the key and add requests.

Diy at home set up recommendations for a newbie
It's not entirely clear if you've already selected the software to use. In case you're still looking, the two open source karaoke software projects I'm familiar with are OpenKJ and PiKaraoke. OpenKJ is oriented towards karaoke hosting. It can be used at home but doesn't have a web remote. PiKaraoke does have a self-hosted web remote that works quite well. I recommend checking it out.
What are some alternatives?
