OK, So I am looking for someone who has successfully installed the QNAP-EC fan control driver for TrueNAS

I purchased TS-262 and installed NixOS (Linux distribution) to M2.SSD inside TS-262. Everything except HDD LEDs and fan control is working. I've tried both QNAP-EC and PanQ, none of them worked. qnap_ec module loads only when I set option check-for-chip=no, and no sensors get added to sensors command output. The module just logs

I installed Truenas Scale on my TS451+. I'm using QNAP-EC and fancontrol to control the fans. Maybe this would work for a Linux Distro too.

I have a TS-863 with 64GB of ECC RAM installed running Truenas core. If you run scale (which will be out in a few days) you should be able to run automatic fan control via scripts with https://github.com/Stonyx/QNAP-EC.

I don't think there is an "alternative GUI" but there is community app catalog that integrates into the standard GUI called TrueCharts

Here's a link to some info on their out-of-the-box support for cloud-sync'd storage. Their "container station" equivalent would be their app store. They have a model of 1)"tiny collection of core essentials" plus support for 2)arbitrary user-configured containers and 3)3rd party app store catalogs full of the broad universe of various 3rd party containers.
