Playlunky VS modlunky2

Sry, was a bit short earlier because I really wanted breakfast. Basically you are trying to pack mods, which has long been unsupported. I am sure you use the latest version of Modlunky and you see the big warning at the very top. Even while it was still supported as the major way to mod the game, the overrides folder was not the supported way to make mods. So there are so many layers of wrong here. If you don't have it already, get the latest version of Modlunky. Then the instructions above will work. Check the wiki for Playlunky if anything is unclear (that also lists supported audio formats).

There's nothing wrong with a little reading. The documentation on Playlunky gives all the steps you need (linked below). https://github.com/spelunky-fyi/Playlunky/wiki If you have a significant issue with anything other than a video, you'll probably just have to find another human to show you what to do. It's easy though, so you can probably figure it out.

You can extract assets using modlunky2. It will generate a sprite sheet for the mole, among other things.

I'm most familiar with Spelunky 2, where modlunky2 (instructions) is usually used to manage mods and tools. HD Toolbox serves a similar purpose for HD. I don't know much about Classic, just that there's relatively little tooling for it.

Alternatively, install modlunky2 and the randomizer mod from spelunky.fyi. Same thing, easier mod management.

If you could file a GitHub issue with any other info you have, I'll take a look within the next 12h. You could try #s2-modding-help in Community Discord Server in case someone recognizes this… Offhand, I think I need to look at the code tho and won't have time for a bit.

If you you download modlunky2, it can take care of downloading Overlunky for you, as well as launching game+Overlunky together. More importantly, it can install mods like Super Qilin Skip Turbo

The next thing you'll need is Modlunky2, which can be found here. Just download modlunky2.exe, and place it in Spelunky 2's directory. You can find the directory by right clicking the game in Steam, hovering over Manage, and clicking Browse local files. While you're here, it's a good time to backup your save game if you care about your progress. Just copy savegame.sav to somewhere safe.

For Qilin skip specifically, you might want to try the mod Super Qilin Skip Turbo. If you install modlunky2 it can install+update everything else for you (the mod, Playlunky, and Overlunky)

Modlunky2 instructions are a good place to start*. On spelunky.fyi, you probably want to search for "Playable Character" or "Specific Asset" mod types.
