Perl5-IDEA VS jetbrains-ppa

Your comment made me curious, so I installed the Perl plugin for IJ <https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/7796-perl> and sure enough, it parsed that str assignment correctly. My hat's off to them!

Maybe you are running into the same problem I found when I evaluated the editor. Its debugger says it can't find Foo.pm or any compiled eval in general, which excludes huge swathes of Perl code already in production. Switch to Camelcade, that one works fine.

Apparently there is also support for IntelliJ IDEA, Vim and Sublime Text, and Komodo IDE.

As a dev, I love the Jetbrains IDEs, and strongly recommend using Jonas Groeger's PPA to automate the install for you: https://github.com/JonasGroeger/jetbrains-ppa . If you're using Jetbrains stuff under Linux, use Jonas' private package archive (PPA). https://github.com/JonasGroeger/jetbrains-ppa . He spent a lot of time setting it up so it's automated to give you the latest updates as a package. I've tried all the other options for Jetbrains stuff under Linux, and they suck hard compared to this. Jonas is an utter champ for this work he's done!
