You don't need 'vim-rooter' (usually) or How to set up smart autochange of current directory
Firstly, I respect your sharing here, but I still discourage people(especially newcomers) from using this kind of plugin/script to auto-changing "current directory". (So yes, I myself discourage people from using my own root plugin NeoRoot.lua anymore, and I've decided to execute my plan to abandon it recently.)

NeoRoot.lua: Change working directory like Monkey🐒
You did it, I've done it: forgetting to give a link ^^ Here it is NeoRoot.lua

Neo-tree now supports floating windows!
Try my lightweight plugin specifically created for handling such an issue by changing your cwd automatically: https://github.com/nyngwang/NeoRoot.lua

NeoRoot.lua: A Light-weight Project Root Manager Written in Lua
Hi, this is the first plugin I wrote for my own need. It works very well so far, so I want to share it with you: Editing NeoRoot.lua/README.md at main · nyngwang/NeoRoot.lua (github.com). Here is the intro:

Practical Vim Command Workflow
Something like this maybe? https://github.com/luukvbaal/nnn.nvim
-
Terminal filemanager that works good with neovim
nnn with https://github.com/luukvbaal/nnn.nvim works wonderful!

NERDTree
When I changed, I went one step further and switched to nnn... https://github.com/luukvbaal/nnn.nvim

Nvim-tree or ??
NNN
- Managing your files. How do you do it?
-
What file explorer do you use?
nnn (https://github.com/jarun/nnn) via https://github.com/luukvbaal/nnn.nvim It's a very similar solution to telescope-file-browser but since nnn is a standalone filemanager, I can use the same file explorer inside and outside Neovim
-
Override nvim-tree's keybinding
I am trying to use nnn.nvim as an explorer (and picker) but seem to be unable to override nvim-tree's keybinding of " - e".
-
Using NerdTree-like file explore does not feel fast enough.
you may like luukvbaal/nnn.nvim: File manager for Neovim powered by nnn.; nnn has a handy "type-to-nav" feature where you press , it puts you in search mode (regular search is /), as you type it filters, then if one directory matches your search it automatically navigates into that directory and keeps you in the mode so you can keep typing

Any plugin that gives me a floating file manager? I just need it to do operations like move, rename, copy and delete
I fell in love with nnn and when I started using it in nvim I was surprised how much better if an experience it was https://github.com/luukvbaal/nnn.nvim

minimal-nnn.nvim - the most minimal nnn plugin ever
Yeah I'm not sure what the point is of such a minimal plugin when nnn.nvim and nnn.vim already exist which both do do that, and more.
What are some alternatives?
suave.lua - Multi-tabs project session automation
neo-tree.nvim - Neovim plugin to manage the file system and other tree like structures.
telescope.nvim - Find, Filter, Preview, Pick. All lua, all the time.
vifm.vim - Vim plugin that allows use of vifm as a file picker
packer.nvim - A use-package inspired plugin manager for Neovim. Uses native packages, supports Luarocks dependencies, written in Lua, allows for expressive config
nnn - n³ The unorthodox terminal file manager
telescope-file-browser.nvim - File Browser extension for telescope.nvim
vim-rooter - Changes Vim working directory to project root.
dirbuf.nvim - A file manager for Neovim which lets you edit your filesystem like you edit text
mini.nvim - Library of 35+ independent Lua modules improving overall Neovim (version 0.7 and higher) experience with minimal effort
coc-explorer - 📁 Explorer for coc.nvim
