Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.

Beyond Snikket, for XMPP on Android try Conversations or Blabber. For iOS try Monal or Siskin.

I have an anonymous online friend. How can we ensure that even if we lose access to our current chat platform we will be able to find each other, while still maintaining our anonymity?
Mac: Psi, Adium, Monal (though it's in beta phase at the time of writing and unfortunately and they have odd stances on GDPR (source))

Colloquy link is dead (again), https://github.com/colloquy/colloquy/releases is probably the most relevant link at this point. A couple of guys keep it limping along when there are breaking OS changes, but it's pretty much in a coma. A pity, since imho it's still the best-looking UI IRC client on any platform.
