The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Show HN: Atopile – Design circuit boards with code
Old issue, but annoying nonetheless. Less of a problem when outputting STL files (for printing) which only support polylines and not arcs/circles. Funnily enough, 3D printers nowadays support arcs natively in G-code, so some slicers support detecting rounded polylines and converting them back into circles or arcs.
Found a script[0] that does this for DXFs in a github issue[1].

Darwin cartesian robot bom needed
But the darwin was a pretty terrible design, why not Mendel90 or something?

Still needs more work and some tidying up (and install the hot end) but my Mendel90 was moving today. Ran a 45min gcode with no issues. Only issue so far - Bed is not getting hot enough. Maxed out at 65c. Either wiring too small or not enough voltage. Thinking about modding RAMPS and using 24v
For anyone interested in details, I suggest taking a look at the github repository https://github.com/nophead/Mendel90/

New to OpenScad: how to draw shapes?
I think one of the most amazing expressions I've seen of this so far is Nophead's Mendel90 - a 3D printer design that's fully parametric, to the point where you can not only select basically any size you want and get all the manufacturing files out, but even change everything from the whole style of the printer to what bolts you want to use, and then generate exploded diagrams of each sub-component.

10 ways to get the best out of OpenSCAD
Before I ran into insurmountable (for me) performance issues with OpenSCAD, I made heavy use of BOSL2[0]. I’d go as far as call it OpenSCAD’s missing standard library. It’s truly sublime.
Fun fact: BOSL2 was written by the same person who made the world’s most 3D printable 3D printer. [1]
