Any experts out there willing to help out a struggling newbie?
LaserGRBL’s website seems pretty good. If you haven’t already, it’s worth clicking on the ‘Usage’ tab and having a read of that stuff. Here is a link https://lasergrbl.com

Laser Engraving?
https://lasergrbl.com/ is a way to stream G-code to an arduino using windows so we are a step closer here but there are a lot of in-between steps that we are missing like how we are going to power the laser (can our boards handle this/have the right connections or do we need to slap some auxiliary electronic board on and then figure out how to yell commands at it)

Alternative to Candle/grblControl that includes finding center of holes and workpieces?
try https://github.com/terjeio/ioSender even though it is made for grblHAL I believe it is also compatible with old fashion Arduino/GRBL

I just got a 3018 CNC router. I’ve followed the instructions, verifying the port and all that, and it seems to connect fine. But when I try and control it, nothing responds on the machine itself. The only thing it does is when I turn the spindle on, the control changes colour
Candle is not my favorite sender, I have no idea why the Chinese think it is a good thing to use. If really isn't helpful in diagnosing problems like this. I suggest you switch to UGS (Universal GCode Sender) or ioSender.

Autolevelling for PCB milling
Check out ioSender. It has height map probing and can use that to transform the loaded GCode so that the Z zero follows the height map. Great for etching and milling PCBs. Only runs on windows but works in a Windows VM on linux.

GRBL Panel Keeps getting stuck. The command box is not showing any errors, just stuck on Sent
By the way, GrblPanel is no longer supported by the author. I used it a lot until I found ioSender which is a lot like GrblPanel but significantly better and supported by an active developer. Beta 8 is here. Worth trying.
