PSA: Bankrobber is better than SP-404SX Wave Converter
Check out Super Pads. It's a slick interface and is more consistently maintained than Bankrobber.

SP404A Issue with formatting cards
This sounds like an issues with the machine more than the cards or software, but it’s really hard to know for sure. We’re all the cards the same brand? Bad cards can be an issue in a lot of hardware. Alternative software like Bank Robber or Super Pads could help, https://github.com/MatthewCallis/super-pads
