PSA: Old OpenRCT2 launcher isn't working anymore
These threads have been cropping up constantly over the last few weeks. There is a new launcher available here or you can download the latest version from this page, just like you always could.

Where do I go?
RCT Classic was made in 2016 (re-made version of RCT 1 + 2), so it probably wasn't that version, but that's a good option. OpenRCT2 is about the same price and a few more steps to get, especially if you just get the launcher.

How can I activate automatic updates?
OpenRCT2 does not provide automatic updates itself. What you are describing is the launcher application made by user LRFLEW. You can get the last version here. However be warned that, although it usually works, it is not official, not supported, and often won't launch correctly.

OpenRCT
Get the launcher. Point it to the RCT2 install. It will make new directories in Documents and copy over any save files and custom objects. The launcher keeps it updated, either on the Develop or Release branch. Nothing else to it.
- Launcher is stuck, it won't update nor let me play

The ridiculous detail you can achieve with heightmaps using the new map size limit
You need to leave RCT2 installed, but most people use it through the Launcher which will keep your game up to date.

RCT for MacBook
Progress is not transferrable between RCTC and the base game (or Open). IMO the easiest way to get RCT on the Mac is buy/install it on a Windows machine through Steam, copy the program files folder, dump it somewhere on the Mac (doesn't matter where). Download the OpenRCT2 launcher, point it to said folder, done. However there are other options if you don't have access to a Windows machine.
