Yes, I've used it in a commercial product with 10000+ deployments. It was the only chip with BLE and WiFi, so there was no other option at the time. If the requirements were different, I would use something from Nordic Semiconductors [0] or some ARMv8 chip.

The hardware itself is fine, but the biggest pain was getting stable WiFi and BLE connections simultaneously, because of only one antenna/radio. RAM was also a problem, it would be great to have at least 512kb. The SDK from Espressif is sometimes a little bit weird, but usable and bugs are fixed quickly. The build system is ok, nothing special.

The Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense is designed around a Nordic Semiconductor chip which has a Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) of 23 bytes, which represents the largest packet size that can be sent at a time. According to this resource, the maximum data throughput for this size is 128 kbps so you need to split the machine learning model into packets of this size to be able to transfer it over to the Arduino.

We love Nordic Semiconductor, we have used their Bluetooth SoC’s in several of our client’s projects. Their toolchain is easy to work with, their example code is invaluable, and their support is some of the best in the industry. Not to mention they are one of the most popular brands of Bluetooth radios.

I am following this company closely, and I find it rather curious how little expectation or knowledge there is about it, considering the medium to long term expansion they have planned. For those who doesn't know, Nordic Semiconductor (NDCVF, NOD - Current Share price: $33) is a Norwegian semiconductor company specialised in wireless technology for IoT (Bluetooth and now Wi-Fi).

So far we've managed to connect via bluetooth (no pairing) through a ble framework for ble devices in unity, however this framework does not manage pairing and flashing. Pairing is a great to have but flashing is a must have, all over bluetooth. We've been looking into the Dfu library as well as the partial flashing library from microbit.
