Thankfully, you can disable a lot of machines and the compat features of Mekanism (Maybe at least the IC2 compat), i only use Mek for the production of brine, lithium and the Seismic Vibrator (with a tweaked recipe of course), i also use the process to produce Tritium and Deuterium, but i think that i will decline in favor of the GregTech Experimental methods

-IndustrialCraft2 (all its features, there's a reason why it is still a big one, i would suggest you to combine IC2, BuildCraft, Railcraft and Forestry (and addons like Binnines and GregTech Experimental (Download Link)) for a better experience)

I don't currently have an ETA, but you can periodically check the progress on github projects.

It's a simple generator which takes a single ItemStack input. Default recipes use "magic" items such as a nether start, ghast tear, Twilight Forest's Fiery Blood, or Thaumcraft's essentia Phials.

This week I've been working on Multi-Block (Structure) machines in GTE. If you don't know what that is, I recommend you to check the mod's github README, and the previous post for FAQs.

what a classic setup we have there, i really like IC2 (and its family: BuildCraft and Railcraft) and what you built there is pretty amazing, i really suggest you to use the newest big IC2 addon: GregTech Experimental (a port of GregTech 3)

Looked at the code. And yes. That is exactly how it works. However, it doesn't check if every block is valid before doing that. It just checks one side, and if it can grow a crystal there, it will. Otherwise, it does nothing.

Hey thank you so much this was super helpful and gave me a mindblown sort of moment of realisation of how I should restructure my network. I really need to get some sleep now but I will continue tomorrow. Thanks very much for your help I really do appreciate the time spent. Also I managed to find the link but maybe I misunderstood what he meant and maybe it was the opposite of my interpretation. (I never played on ae1 so I don't know)
