GodMode9 VS threeSD

GodMode9 is basically a Swiss army knife file browser for the 3DS. In fact, there's also a version for NDS consoles as well. After going through the guide, systems normally continue to boot using the boot.firm Luma3DS file on the SD card root -- there's no reason to remove it. If people followed the big guide, they should not run into a situation where they cannot boot without an SD card inserted. 🤷‍♂️ GodMode9 can dump 3DS and NDS cartridge data, install .cia files, among many other things. It's an extremely important tool to have!

Was it the newest version of god mode 9 you used? Maybe try replacing the payload files with one of the older versions here?

That is GodMode9, a powerful full-access file browser for the Nintendo 3DS. Did your console boot to that when you turned it on? What happens when you press START?

I found a {thread from a year ago with about the same issue](https://github.com/d0k3/GodMode9/issues/694). They found that the issue was the system was brand new. I've been using this same 3ds since 2015. I doubt that's it. I did just buy a new SD card, but I copied everything over to my new one.

Recommend using threeSD. Not only will it get the AES key, but also has the option for dumping installed titles, DLC, save data, etc. Obviously, if the only thing you want is the AES keys then you can deselect everything except that and there will be no problems.

You have to hack your 3DS to dump data from it. This is very safe as long as you are careful. You can use threeSD to dump data (recommended by Citra developers).

This is a helpful guide for doing it manually but you can also use threeSD to do it automatically

First off dump your system files using ThreeSD and make sure that you already have the update installed for Mii Plaza on your 3DS so that ThreeSD dumps it. Also make sure you have ticked System Settings and Config Savegame when dumping with ThreeSD. If you don’t know how to dump your system files from your 3DS use this guide.

If you want, you can run Godmode9 via ntrboot on your non-CFW 3DS without having to install CFW – though this is a somewhat atypical process. You might even be able to use threeSD, but it may require some modification as Godmode9 via ntrboot cannot dump boot9.bin. Or you might be able to use ninfs on your PC.

I'm not sure but you can try to use threeSD to extract the save from you SD card
