Can I play Fallout 1 with no mods
Fallout Et Tu: https://github.com/rotators/Fo1in2 More up to date than Fixit, and it basically takes the first Fallout and puts it into the Fallout 2 engine, meaning I'm pretty sure you need to have Fallout 2 installed. Also includes a lot of QOL features. Pretty sure it restores the good endings for the Hub and Followers. Companions can definitely wear armor and you can play after the ending. I prefer Fixit though because Fallout Et Tu makes too many changes such as adding a motorcycle for the player, new encounters, Fallout 2 creatures, weapon upgrades, etc.

For those who want to play Fallout 1, there is a port of Fallout to the Fallout 2 engine called Fallout et tu (https://github.com/rotators/Fo1in2). It brings quality of life improvements, bug fixes and stability.

[Fallout 1][Mod] Question about installing Fallout Et Tu mod
I am aware that there is also this dat-unpacker tool for Linux which helps extract the Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 files but I did not attempt to use it so far to help fix these issues.
