Video: Power LED Attack [video]
* Rather than letting an unbalanced pack naturally result in lower usable capacity, when the cells go moderately (300mV) out of balance (by design, see step 3) Dyson programmed the battery to stop working...permanently. It will give you the 32 red blinks of death and will not charge or discharge again. It could not be fixed. Until now.

Anyone ever used one of these for a Dyson vacuum?
The battery cells are fine, it’s the controller that’s junk. At least according to these guys. https://github.com/tinfever/FU-Dyson-BMS

Embedded Systems Weekly #102
(Unofficial) Firmware Upgrade for Dyson V6/V7 Vacuum Battery Management System By disassembling the original firmware and analysing the IC doing the battery management, the author discovered that Dyson decided to shutdown by software and definitely the battery of their vacuum as soon as a moderate unbalance of the cells appears. Pushed by the apparent unfairness of this Dyson design decision, he patched together a new firmware to continue to be able to use his vacuum. All the details and code are in the Git repository.

Dyson D8 Brush Not Spinning - Electrical Troubleshooting (details in comments)
I have a V6 and the motorhead somtimes spins. The best advice I found was to clean the electrical contacts. I eventually disassembled the motorhead only to find out that the actual motor was a corroded piece of garbage. I looked far and wide for information, but found that dyson makes the units nearly impossible to service, as well as specifically cripples the firmware of the batteries to make them fail as early as possible (ref).

In this case, it seems the answer is nothing. It’s just a bug in the GitHub language detection code.
