One-time pad encryption - what are the downsides?!
I'm looking into making a one-time pad encryption PWA for sending and receiving messages. So far I've only created the key-generation, encryption and decryption-stuff. But reading an earlier thread here it seemed that some people thought that OTP-encryption had some issues. I'm guessing one issue is that you are not actually verifying the other user? Are there other issues? And how serious would you estimate all of the issues?
What are some alternatives?
When comparing Enoch-Root and onetimepadjs you can also consider the following projects:
OTPClient - Highly secure and easy to use OTP client written in C/GTK3 that supports both TOTP and HOTP
nodejs-encryption - There are two classes in the crypto module called Cipher and Decipher that we are going to use in the example.
XOTP - XOR One Time Pad Cipher written in C
hat.sh - Encrypt and Decrypt files securely in your browser.
secure-ls - :lock: Secure localStorage data with high level of encryption and data compression
