The case of the jump into the middle of an instruction from nowhere (2023)
That is the weird part. My explorer.exe patch to disable flashing taskbar buttons was functioning with Microsoft Defender turned on for the whole lifetime of Windows 10 I used it. I didn't even need a UAC prompt to patch the memory. Nothing detects it, even though it goes and adds assembly instructions to three locations in the memory with WriteProcessMemory etc. It's not working by injecting DLL, it just modifies the running explorer.exe process memory so it will not modify files.
You can see the code here: https://github.com/Ciantic/DisableFlashingTaskbarButtons/tre... (there was also C version but I changed it to AHK)

It isn't 100% reliable but it's good enough for me. Now I hope to find something that prevents Windows 11 from dimming my screen when on battery after a few seconds of inactivity. Pretty please?

Rtings' AW3423DWF Accelerated Longevity Test results are out
A windows 11 update released a few months ago now fully hides the taskbar without the 1 or 2 pixel wide line at the bottom. Maybe it hasn't rolled out to you or some other factor is causing it to default to the old behavior. You can use ButteryTaskbar to completely hide it too, but it only really works correctly if you have one monitor.
- This is my LG C2 OLED with a black wallpaper. How do I remove that little taskbar line at the bottom that is caused by Windows? it’s annoying… (OS Win 11 Pro)
- Any way to remove the taskbar entirely? (see: thin line at bottom)

AW3423DWF burn in concerns

I have a line of annoying pixels!
You can report this to Buttery Taskbar and Mozilla for them to see if there's anything that can be done about it.

Got an AW3423DW from microcenter today but I’m conflicted of whether to keep
Hide the taskbar and use a program like Buttery Taskbar or Translucent Taskbar (from the app store) to get rid of the 1 pixel line that auto hiding the taskbar leaves.

There’s a program called Buttery Taskbar that will completely hide the taskbar. Windows leaves a little line at the bottom by default.
