New to the game
If you are new, and want to learn the vanilla game and weapons without players interrupting you you can set up a LAN server or follow instructions on a offline mod here: https://github.com/Arkensor/DayZCommunityOfflineMode

DayZ Offline Mode XML file Items n' Zombies not spawning headache
Okay so I downloaded this: https://github.com/Arkensor/DayZCommunityOfflineMode offline mode like 3 hours ago because I wanted to take the time to learn the systems of dayz and just relax and loot / hunt zombies.

Would Dayz be fun as singleplayer? Thinking about setting up a local server, also saw that you can add ai bots, not sure if fun / worth though. Thanks!
Check out offline mode https://github.com/Arkensor/DayZCommunityOfflineMode Fun to explore the maps. Be sure to dump your crash reports periodically by validating files through steam, select option to dump temporary stuff (sorry I don't have it in front of me to tell you the exact wording)

DayZ Experimental Server 1.19 - can I run this on a local server?
https://github.com/Arkensor/DayZCommunityOfflineMode download the missions, create a "missions" folder in your dayz experimental folder(steam/steamapps/common/dayz exp.. ) copy the mission folders you downloaded into that mission folder. open the folder for the map you wanna play and double click the dayzcommunityofflinemode batch file to launch the game.
- Question: no community servers pop up in my tab. Am I supposed to add those from somewhere else? I’m not sure how to play on a server where you can start geared to practice PvP for example. Thanks!

What a peaceful drive.
The server is responsible for physics calculations to avoid cheating. The bugginess of cars comes from client/server desync, where the player's client side position differs from the position calculated by the server. You can test this by using Community Offline Mode and spawning in a car. The cars handle just like they do in single player Arma (which is to say not well at all, but they also won't go into orbit either).
- Best way to play single player?
-
Old Player Here.
Singleplayer: For many years now, there is a thing called CommunityOfflineMode (made by the modder Arkensor) that is not really a mod, but a customized mission folder that allows the game to run in singleplayer mode, with a bunch of admin tools you can use if you want. Link here

Stress CPU using s-tui and cooling fan doesn't spin
I meet this weird situation after switch my laptop to archlinux from windows these days: the system cooling fan didn't spin at all when using s-tui stress Mode, even the core tempreture was up to 90 celsius shown by zenmonitor, but the fan acts normal in daily use. Can someone explan me why it could happen? the principles beind it is much more welcome!

Conserving battery on company managed Linux Distro
s-tui is useful for CPU frequency, temperature, and TDP monitoring (make sure to run it with sudo for power details). It also has a nice stress test.

Looking for tool to stress CPU and GPU at the same time
For the CPU I can recommend s-tui which is basically a GUI for stress. You could of course also just run stress without a GUI

T480 1080p low power 400nit display and dual heat-pipe upgrades tested and compared
Dual Heat-pipe I'll keep this short the only answer to thermal throttling is undervolting your cpu! If you're actually curious to the impact it had keep reading. For the stress tests I use s-tui .

CPU throttling on Linx Mint when doing nothing
s-tui could give you more clues on what is happening with your system. If the in-built power profiles don't work, you could try throttled.
