Ask HN: What is your “I don't care if this succeeds” project?
Here are three hobby projects I've worked on during the last 2 years. I've written extensive guides for all of them:
https://github.com/maxvfischer/DIY-CNC-machine A CNC-machine I built from scratch, using 40x 3d-printed parts.
https://github.com/maxvfischer/Arthur An AI art installation I built from scratch using a GAN network, Samsung The Frame, a button and a PIR-sensor.
https://github.com/maxvfischer/DIY-arcade A full-size Arcade Machine I built from scratch.

- I just finished my latest big project, building a CNC-machine from scratch using an Arduino Uno, GRBL and 40x 3d-printed parts. I've also written an end-to-end, extensive and detailed open-source guide of how you can build your own machine!

Let me introduce you to the PrintNC, a kind-of-high-end hobbyist CNC:

* https://github.com/threedesigns/printNC
* Discord invite: https://discord.gg/RxzPna6 <-- extremely active CNC enthusiast discord
It's "kind of high end" as it uses steel beams (not aluminium) for rigidity, so it's capable of driving some really powerful gear... fairly cheaply. :)
