People drop your nvim .dotfile
Here is mine, written in fennel (Lisp). REPL-like experience writing my nvim configs. I am doing Clojure, Java, Kotlin, Dart development with it. I used to use IntellijIdea, but now my nvim may do much more, and it's crazy fast.

My Only issue with using VIM as an IDE...
I had the same warnings at first, but now I don't use terminal app anymore because of two reasons: 1. have the same vim bindings inside vim term (and it's easy to use with https://github.com/akinsho/toggleterm.nvim). 2. able to set up global hotkeys, like cmd+c, cmd+v, cmd+a, cmd+q, etc for vim (neovide), and not for terminal. Example with karabiner.

How do you set up vim for ClojureDart?
As lsp-config doesn't seem to work with vim, I moved back for ale with clj-kondo for a while https://github.com/Liverm0r/dotfiles/commit/f41a8ee8dd6a5ab36c14e89db186a16efbdc237a

One more nvim config with fennel, I am glad I moved (from vimscript)
The experience with Fennel was pretty smooth. Aniseed does all the dirty work and does it brilliantly. Now I can easily extend the editor myself. I never wrote anything for vim (just copypaste), and now I am able to solve a task, for example, launch a terminal with an appropriate repl (commit).

Should one rewrite vimrc to init.lua for performace benifits?
yes, thank you, used it already several minutes ago :) https://github.com/Liverm0r/dotfiles/commit/297c69f13900bf151a8556e0d5439274e3b2ab63

Configuring Neovim with Fennel

Why Fennel?
You don't need to transpile it if you use https://github.com/Olical/aniseed
-
TimL: Clojure-like Lisp dialect that runs on and compiles down to Vimscript
Something similar: Fennel (https://fennel-lang.org/) is a lisp that compiles into Lua, which nvim can use as plugins, so you can write nvim plugins in a lisp. Aniseed (https://github.com/Olical/aniseed) makes this really easy.

The extensible vi layer for Emacs
Just use vim. Yes, emacs has a lisp engine, but so does nvim[1]. Really, though, using vim properly means that it doesn't need to swallow the kitchen sink[2]. Just use vim.

lazy.nvim and Aniseed for config environment
I use Aniseed to write my configs in Fennel, and I can't seem to find a way to get Aniseed bootstrapped and managed by lazy. Folke has said that fennel isn't supported in issues about hotpot and tangerine, but neither of them particularly help me solve my issue

Have you tried aniseed ?

Swapping to Fennel
Aniseed: mostly an environment, it does handle configuration. It adds a lot of clojure features (another modern Lisp) such as a module system. It does seem to be slower to startup though, but I really like how its module system works and still use it for that reason alone. There's not much boilerplate code, just add it to the header

[help] How to write nvim plugins with Fennel?
The easiest would be to use aniseed: https://github.com/Olical/aniseed, it has a bootstrap script that downloads all the needed dependencies: https://github.com/Olical/aniseed, it also adds some syntax niceties and testing support. Here's an example of a plugin: https://github.com/katawful/kat.nvim
What are some alternatives?
