The boot screen is not on the sd card. It's on the internal memory and to change it requires a tool to flash the on board memory with the new boot screen. The tool only works on onion OS so let's start with that. Go here and start with the getting started page. This will install a new and better operating system. Follow the guide and it will show you but it is really simple. After that you will need logo tweak follow the guide here. Once installed open the tool and it will come with a wide selection of preinstalled boot screens just ask your kid what one they want.

Finally managed to get a mini it was not all that cheap, but fair for not being sold anymore I guess. I’m loving it! Onion OS has been really great for me as I love to tinker and stuff. Made my own custom theme and boot logo.
