Is there any clear documentation on how to make avif collections and how to read them?
As far as I understand you are talking about this plugin. I don't know c++ and half of the code was like a black magic, but if I get it correctly, it encodes your images with libavif, and adds custom metadata ([solar/time of day] -> json -> base64).

Shaved it down to 18 minutes last time.
Something like that yeah, except it keeps changing throughout the day. I use this for it, but it still was a bit of set up work.

KDE wishlist
For dynamic wallpapers there's the plasma5-wallpapers-dynamic plugin and it works quite well, except it seems to add a little to the login times.
- Is there something like a daytime based slideshow wallpaper plugin? Or how hard would it be to make one?
