I'm having a slight suspicion that it might be Universal x86 Tuning Utility, so I've opened an issue with them.

Is there a way to disable SMT / hyper threading-equivalent on the Ally?
Not sure if you can disable hyper threading, but you can disable cores with this utility. ETA Prime has a video showing this utility in use in the Ally. https://github.com/JamesCJ60/Universal-x86-Tuning-Utility-Handheld

Sofle RGB/Lulu For DIY Laptop Build Sanity Check B4 Buying
I was eagerly looking into the sofle rgb or lulu as my base, adding in one or two of cirque's circle trackpads for a mouse/joystick(this makes that swap easy) and a 4way scroll (off the second pad) but due to the many concerns I have, I'm willing to fallback to one track pad for mouse/joy and one trackpoint as a 4way scroll.
What are some alternatives?
