The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

STEPPER: A new 16-step sequencer for the GBA
Both Nanoloop and LSDJ are closed source unfortunately. But ArduinoBoy is open, so maybe you can get from its "what to sent" to your "what to receive"?

suggestions for hardware synths that make videogame/ chip tune sounds
My chiptune setup for years has been an arduinoboy connected to an original gameboy running an mGB cartridge hooked up to a MIDI keyboard/interface of some sort. Something like this using a keystep37 would give you a very portable, playable, and decently affordable chip tune setup with lots of modulation and some sequencing options!

Where can I get either a nanoloop USB-MIDI-adaptor or Arduinoboy pro micro in 2022? Know of build guides for either?
Add to that the original maker's open source software found here......

HELP How Do I Use This Thing???
I know LSDJ supports MIDI through a device called the Arduinoboy, which basically would allow you to interfere a MIDI keyboard over the 7-pin DIN connector and use the Game Boy as a synth.
- Have a few questions about using lsdj and ableton.

But I guess analog sync would be way simpler. Did not test if this is 100% compatible to nanoloop's analog sync, but again: I found a source for the arduino-side of things: https://github.com/mackemint/GBAnalogSynch
What are some alternatives?
