Looked at the code. And yes. That is exactly how it works. However, it doesn't check if every block is valid before doing that. It just checks one side, and if it can grow a crystal there, it will. Otherwise, it does nothing.
- How would I connect this chest to my ME system to pump blocks and items into it? I obviously don't need to here, but I want to figure out how to connect chests to it in general. (Ignore the setup, work in progress)

AE2, P2P energy tunnels through default P2P channel tunnels?
Hey thank you so much this was super helpful and gave me a mindblown sort of moment of realisation of how I should restructure my network. I really need to get some sleep now but I will continue tomorrow. Thanks very much for your help I really do appreciate the time spent. Also I managed to find the link but maybe I misunderstood what he meant and maybe it was the opposite of my interpretation. (I never played on ae1 so I don't know)

Unable to extract power, I tried shift-right clicking it and nothing works
I tried googling it, and that seems to be the answer. OP, be sure to do that without anything in your off hand, found this github issue referencing that.
