The disadvantage to that method is that you need a peripheral mod, if you want to ensure that you can transfer items from modded inventories. I use Advanced Peripherals for that, when I'm using Forge.

When is open cumputers gonna update to 1.19?
The major issue on the road to newer MC versions is LWJGL upgrade from 2 to 3, among some other issues. There is a pull request for 1.16.5: https://github.com/MightyPirates/OpenComputers/pull/3572

I am just not understanding
now, if you write component.redstone.setOutput(0, 15)that will output a signal redstone of 15 to the bottom face of the Redstone I/O, also it will print to the last value of the redstone signal, in this case that will be 0 for default. (for more info about sides, look at https://github.com/MightyPirates/OpenComputers/wiki/API-Sides)
