Which Modern Metroidvanias does this sub consider top tier?
Another Metroid 2 Remake.

I think it's fair to say that I no longer hate Metroid II Return of Samus. It was very fun with a pro controller and I now think I want to start speed running it.
Try out AM2R, the fan remake of Metroid II that was released a year before Samus Returns, sometime. IMO, it's the single best fan game ever made.

Favorite unsupported game on the deck
If I recall it has linux and even android builds. Best to check the AM2R subreddit.

I want some recommendations about the prequels of Metroid dread.
AM2R (Another Metroid 2 Remake) - A fan remake that further refines Zero Mission's controls while largely staying faithful to the Original 2's layout.
- Skyline Emulator - Interesting enough I got this to work. My question is, Is how do I make it so the game isn't super fast playing? it's weird because, when I do a video recording ( Example here ) the speed is perfect for the game. lol. Any advice?

Best way to play Metroid AM2R on the Steam Deck and a cautionary tale about non steam linux builds for average users.
Our source code is public on GitHub with a few caveats/bugs due to the DMCA, but building on a user's own end just to play on the Deck is entirely unfeasible for several reasons:

I need your help!
I know that the community updates have fixed a lot of bugs and introduced some cool features and enhancements that you can read about elsewhere on this sub and on their Github and that the work is ongoing. But honestly, I had no issues when I played thru v1.1 on PC initially.

Getting Half-Life working (a bit) on RG351MP
Go to https://github.com/krishenriksen/AnberPorts and then click "Code" and then "Download zip"
- Well it runs a lot better on AmberELEC, still crashes but not as often and with the updated controller config there’s no way to quick save so have to rely on auto saves 😂!

How do I port half life on rg351?
Sorry, I didn't remember you need the Half-Life zip from AnberPorts. The rest should be in that guide.

Half Life On 351M Using 351Elec
I'm on an RG351V which has it's own issues but if it is any help, although it is discontinued, I got it working with Anberports. The end result is essentially the same AFAIK. I can tell you that you need the port app to generate those directories for you. There are some libraries for arm64 that are added. Or at least mine did. It seemed very picky about the order in how things were done. An it didn't really line up with the directions exactly. I think this post was one that helped me. Even then I had to do a thing to rotate the screen. Then fix the greyed out menus items. And even then I couldn't get the controls configured right because, you know... only one analog stick. So I got a wireless microkeyboard which runs it great. Anyhoo. Hope any of this helps.

I need your help!
There is a port of AM2R available on the Anberbic RG351 P, M, and MP series of handhelds. Performance varies in my experience, and there can be some slow-down with the game on this chipset. May require custom firmware (I booted the stock firmware zero times before switching to a custom firmware). I used a tool called Anberports to get AM2R 1.1 installed and running at the time.

How do I get games like Half Life, Blood, Duke Nukem 3D and Quake running through Anberports? 351v ArkOS
Have you even read Anberports' documentation? On Arkos you just need to copy stuff inside "ports" folder, tho

Trying to get the game blood on my RG 351
Just telling you now, blood requires a lot of files, if you don’t know what files to move into the rg351, check this https://github.com/krishenriksen/AnberPorts/wiki/Ports It tells you the games coming, and the games ported with their require files.
