node-html-pdf: the library is simple and easy to use, one simple command and you get your PDF. However, the library is no longer maintained and we expect to have issue with complex layouts. Also, even if the HTML document include already all information about the layout, you may have to add some optionto make it work correctly as shown in the .README. So while being simple, it requires manual fintuning for each document.
PDF Converter, can remove password protection altogether if needed & is a great tool, then view in MJ PDF
I used this package for a while to generate the PDF from HTML - https://github.com/rdvojmoc/DinkToPdf
There's an open issue on the main HRConvert2 Github, but there doesn't seem to be much traffic in the repo at all. Has anyone run into this issue or know how to fix it?
pdfreader is another tool that converts PDFs from binary to JSON format. Underneath, it uses pdf2json. Unlike the packages we have seen so far, which don't support tabular data, this package does so with automatic column detection and rule-based parsing.
I'm using https://github.com/GowenGit/docnet in production. I use it for text extraction and to generate thumbnails.

You would still need to use third-party software for that. The only two I know of are RCU and remarks.
