You can do that with something like mtail. Basically write expressions that match your logs and produce metrics.
Project mention: Show HN: Numbat – A programming language with physical dimensions as types | news.ycombinator.com | 2023-11-16Apparently this replaces https://github.com/sharkdp/insect
Project mention: Ask HN: Do you still use a hand held/desktop calculator? | news.ycombinator.com | 2023-08-02There's also https://kalker.xyz. Not as powerful, but convenient syntax
To the OP, congratulations for stopping procrastination. :-) I like the idea of your project,I'm often in need of a little tool to help quickly calculate some finance related data. In this case, I often launch a LibreOffice sheet but it is rather heavy for what I need. I'll give your tool a try.
If you are looking for having notecalc3 running locally, the github[0] repository has all the installation instructions (not found in the documentation)

Project mention: [Task] Urgently need a calculator artist ASAP. willing to pay up to USD $40 | /r/slavelabour | 2023-04-30I would need a few more zeros to motivate me to do this, but one viable approach I'll throw out there is use CEmu to validate equations. From the math side, you can start with the real equation, transform, approximate, and invert approach. For instance, for certain types of simple line drawings you can turn them into equations by: (on a real computer)

Project mention: Show HN: Numbat – A programming language with physical dimensions as types | news.ycombinator.com | 2023-11-16> 365·243 ought to be 365·2425 exactly:
Yes. This is also how it is defined: https://github.com/sharkdp/numbat/blob/ba9e97b1fbf6353d24695...
The calculation above is showing a rounded result (6 significant digits by default).
Project mention: Ask HN: Do you still use a hand held/desktop calculator? | news.ycombinator.com | 2023-08-02I have a TI-84 Plus. However, I mostly use eva [0] and python.
