  • MOOC.fi question - Is there a way to automatically default to JDK 17 to where I don't have to set up an SDK every single time?

I do all the exercises in Sublime Text and compile/run in my terminal via javac and java. To test and submit, use the TMC-CLI utility, which has been working flawlessly. It's got a very simple and well documented interface, you can set the directories for the CLI and for your exercises, and when you submit, the review requests are just a prompt line in your terminal instead of an annoying popup text box. Highly recommend. Even the crash/bug reports are more clear using this utility than they are in TMCBeans. All the features you need, including updating/getting new exercises, are available through the CLI tool, and as always you can monitor your progress via the TMC website.

It works quite fast for me with tmc CLI tool https://github.com/testmycode/tmc-cli You can download, test, and submit assignments with just a few commands in terminal (tmc test, tmc submit) while editing code in an editor of your choice.

You definitely don't need NetBeans/TMCBeans for that. tmc-cli let you log in, select the course, and download/update exercises. If you are using IntelliJ, it has a working plugin, as well.

There is a way. It is possible to actually submit the answers manually using their small program tmc-cli. It's easy to install and use. I personally can't work with their TMCBeans and chose IntelliJ for COmmunity and this is what I have to do. I also compile the exercises using Maven by simply running mvn compile in each folder followed by tmc test and tmc submit. O get things working smoothly.
